Maren Holt

Maren Holt grew up in a valley where fog sat on the lake most mornings from October to March. She still works mostly in that weather. Her pictures are made early, often before sunrise, and they depend on very small differences in grey.

Those differences are easy to lose in print. Each of her editions is proofed on three papers before she chooses one, and the editions are kept small so that every print can be checked against the approved proof under the same light. The approved proof stays in our studio as the reference for the whole edition.

Maren lives in Bergen and teaches a printing course there each spring.
