Adaeze Kalu
Adaeze Kalu photographs colour in buildings, plants and water, square-on and close, so each picture reads as a field of colour.

Adaeze Kalu worked as a set painter before she turned to photography, and she still looks at the world as surfaces to be matched. She photographs stairwells, painted walls and lines on the pavement straight on, without perspective, and she treats leaves and water the same way.
Her prints are the brightest we make. They are printed on a lightly textured cotton paper with a wide-gamut ink set, and every edition is matched by eye to her own colour notes rather than to the screen. She works two streets from our studio and signs each edition here on the day it is printed.
